Filipino groups organize seminar on occupational health and safety

About 30 employees from different companies in the hospitality industry took part in a training seminar on hospitality occupational Safety & health and Paralegal held at the Inspire Training Academy on Friday.
The event was organized by Filipino groups Bantay Kasangga Qatar (B@Q) and Filipino Family in Qatar (FFQ) with the support of Bayanihan Qatar.
Adelyn Lucanas,FFQ president, kicked off the activity with inspirational remarks aimed at inspiring the participants. Community leaders engineer Jerry Ronquillo, President of Bayanihan Qatar, engineer Ressie Fos, President of Bayanihan ng mga Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon sa Qatar (BMKQ), and Ber- nardo Dijamco Jr, President of Kaagapay ng Manggagawang Pilipino (KMP), also delivered motivational messages on the occasion.
The discussions led by resource person eliseo Serrano covered varied topics including house work safety, chemical handling and electrical safety. Also discussed were modules on kitchen safety, food safety, fire safety, emergency procedures, waste management and security. While Ronquillo of Bayanihan Qatar provided insights on the proper procedures in changing sponsorship as part of the paralegal section of the training seminar.
engineer Roldan Ma ghanoy, President of Bantay Kasangga Qatar, delivered the closing remarks and ex- pressed the organizer’s appreciation for the support to the initiative.
Also announced is the plan of Bayanihan Qatar to hold the same training programme for other Filipino organizations under its umbrella.
